It gives me great pleasure to announce my Pink Unicorn of the Week is the Blue Bunny Birthday Party Mini Swirls Cone.  Mini in name and size, but not in taste nor level of satisfaction.  These ice cream treats may stand only 5 inches tall, but they have exceeded my expectations on all fronts.  Each one I have eaten tastes better than the last, not kidding, and Blue Bunny is not paying me to say this (nor are they paying me in boxes of Birthday Party Mini Cones).

Despite its “mini” size, this treat’s flavor profile (sweet) left me feeling fully dessert sated.  The first level of taste/texture is similar to what the DQ (Dairy Queen) calls a “crunch coat” and can best be described as a vanilla frosting flavored hardened white chocolate shell (reminding me of my beloved Magic Shell) with sprinkles.  After you finish slowly enjoying the outer-first level, a second level is revealed, which is the reduced fat birthday cake flavored ice cream portion. Some desserts disappoint as you finish eating the best part and have to move on to the less tasty parts, because not finishing dessert is semi-lame. This mini cone will not do that to you;  it has tasty “best parts” from start to finish.  It takes you from the delicious crunch coat, to reduced fat birthday party ice cream (delish!), to a center of blue frosting(small but satisfying), all just in the top half.  When you get to the actual cone, it is thick (relative to size) and crunchy, no soft spots! Yet another win:  the cone is filled with ice cream all the way to the tip.  Last but not least, the tip is filled with white chocolate, which my husband includes is his favorite part.  I have a huge sweet tooth and can’t believe that 1 mini-cone is enough (my usual self would want seconds of something that tastes this good), but it is.  Your scale and tight fitting jeans will be happy you found these.

Check out Blue Bunny’s website for further details, like nutritional facts, or don’t (because there probably is nothing nutritious about them). Find them in your local grocery store freezer/ice cream aisle; they look like this!:
