Don’t be a “dumb-head”! Wear your glasses(and bike helmet)!

Where I grew-up, The Brady Bunch re-runs aired only in the summer months.  When September rolled around, they always got replaced with some show I didn’t like.  That could have been any show, as The Brady Bunch was my favorite.  Jan was my favorite Brady.  I wanted my hair to look just like hers: extra long and wavy.  No such luck in the genes department there.  Jan’s story lines felt relatable, and no other character can claim “George Glass” as their make believe boyfriend. Thank you to www.itsfilmedthere.com (check out the site for the actual picture of Jan and shot location Episode 3-13:  “The Not So Rose Colored Glasses”) for helping me find this and many other Brady Bunch locations in the Los Angeles area.  Episode 3-13 opens with Jan biking down the street at the location pictured above.  Meanwhile, her parents receive a phone call reporting that Jan has ridden away from the playground on someone else’s bike.  Hmm, I wonder how this happened? Well, next clue:  Jan problematically squints during the family portrait.  Followed by another clue:  she struggles with reading aloud the note her teacher has sent home about her declining academic performance.  Her parents know that this doesn’t sound like Jan!   I won’t spoil the whole episode, but she does indeed get glasses.  Now she will no longer have to be a dumb-head, which she calls herself after taking the wrong bike at the playground.  So learn from Jan, don’t be a dumb-head, wear your glasses (and your helmet when biking)!
